Sigiriya- Sigiriya is a rock fortress located near the Matale district of Sri Lanka. It is famous for its many paintings in the ruins and the caves. There is a garden and palace built here by King Kasyapa. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations of Sri Lanka.
Dambula- It is an important city of Sri Lanka, which is built in the central province of Sri Lanka. Some of the popular attractions of Dambulla include the well preserved cave temple complex and the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The Iron wood forest or the Namal Uyana is very popular.
Aluvihara- Aluvihara is an important place for Buddhists and it is located at a distance of 20 km from Kandy. It is believed that it is the site where the Thervada Buddhist scriptures were first set down in writing. The famous reclining Buddha can be seen here.
Kandy- Kandy is considered as one of the most scenic cities of Sri Lanka. It is famous for The Temple of Truth, Gadaledeniya Temple, Paradeniya Gardens, Embekke Temples, Lankatilaka Temple and other Buddhist temples. This one of the must see places in Sri Lanka.
Galle- Galle is a great tourist destination and is a famous World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. The Dutch Fort here is a treat to watch and is a great tourist attraction. There are scores of historical buildings and beautiful beaches here. The Dutch reformed church is also an important tourist attraction.
Polonnaruwa-Polonnaruwa is also a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO. It was Sri Lanka’s medieval capital. It is a well preserved city of ancient dagobas, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive buildings and beautiful statues. The Gal Oya National Park can be accessed from here. |
